"Perfect starting point for those feeling overwhelmed who could be empowering their team. I felt this for too long, but now have identified clear areas where duties can be shifted, and my load can lighten." – Hayley, Brand Marketing Pro

What The First Move Call Is And How It Works

The First Move Call is a free 30-minute diagnostic call for female founders who have a team in place and are still doing everything themselves. It is not a discovery call. Charlotte Elliott, Business Mentor and Operations Strategist at Better Business OBM, does not use this time to ask generic questions and send you a proposal. She goes into your specific situation, finds what is keeping work stuck with you, and tells you exactly what your first move is, specific to your business, your team, and where you are right now.

You leave the call knowing something you did not know before you got on it.

The First Move Call

What is actually keeping work stuck with you

Not a vague sense that something is broken. A specific diagnosis of where the setup is failing and why work keeps coming back to you despite having people in place.

Which gap is costing you the most right now

Whether it is undefined roles, missing decision rights, undocumented processes, or something else, Charlotte will identify which gap is doing the most damage in your specific business.

Your first move

One clear action that will make the biggest difference if you take it first. Not a list of everything that needs fixing. One move, in your specific situation, that starts the shift.

What the right step looks like for you

Whether that is The Setup Check, The Team Setup Playbook, The Deep Dive, or The Owner's Era mentorship, Charlotte will tell you what she recommends based on where you are and what you need. There is no sales pressure and no obligation to take any next step at all.

What Happens On The Call

The call is 30 minutes. Charlotte will have reviewed any information you shared when you booked so she is not starting cold.

The first few minutes are Charlotte asking specific questions about your team structure, how work flows through the business, and where the friction is. The rest of the call is Charlotte telling you what she sees, the gaps, the priorities, and the first move.

It is a direct, focused conversation. Charlotte does not spend time asking you to describe your vision or reflect on your leadership style. She is looking at the structural layer underneath your team and telling you what is missing.

By the end of the 30 minutes, you will have more clarity on your specific situation than most founders get from a full coaching session.

Who The First Move Call Is For

This call is for female founders who have a team in place and are still the answer to every question. Whether you have one VA or five contractors, if work keeps landing back on you, this is where to start.

You do not need to have worked through The Setup Check or purchased The Team Setup Playbook before booking. You do not need to have a clear sense of what is wrong. That is what the call is for.

The only requirement is that you have a team in place. If you are yet to hire anyone, The Setup Check is the better starting point.

This call is also the starting point for The Owner's Era mentorship. If you are considering the mentorship and want to speak to Charlotte before committing, this is the call to book.

This Is Not A Sales Call

Charlotte uses the First Move Call to give you something useful, not to sell you something.

She will tell you what she sees in your setup. She will tell you what she recommends. If what she recommends is one of her paid offers, she will explain why and what it involves. If it is not, she will tell you that too.

Some founders who book a First Move Call go on to work with Charlotte. Some leave with their first move and act on it themselves. Both outcomes are fine. The call is designed to be useful regardless of what happens next.

About Charlotte Elliott

Charlotte Elliott is the founder of Better Business OBM and creator of The Owner's Era Framework. She spent years inside founder-led businesses as the operations person, watching the same pattern repeat in every business she entered. The founder had people. She was still doing everything. Not because she hired wrong or managed badly, but because the infrastructure underneath the team had never been built.

That pattern is what Charlotte fixes. She has been inside enough founder-led businesses to know exactly what the missing layer looks like, what is causing it, and what it takes to build it properly.

Charlotte is a Certified OBM® and works with female founders through The Deep Dive and The Owner's Era mentorship. The First Move Call is where every conversation with Charlotte begins.

Ready to find Out What Your First Move Is

The call is free. It is 30 minutes. You will leave knowing something specific about your business that you did not know before.

No obligation. No pitch. Just your first move.

What to expect After You Book

Once you have booked your First Move Call you will receive a confirmation email with the call details. If you have not already worked through The Setup Check or The Team Setup Playbook, it is worth having a rough sense of where the friction is in your business before the call — not because you need to come prepared with answers, but because the more specific you can be about where things are breaking down, the more specific Charlotte can be in response.

You will also receive a reminder email before the call. Show up on time. Charlotte will be ready to go from minute one.

Frequently Asked Questions

Is this actually free?

Yes. The First Move Call is completely free with no obligation to purchase anything. Charlotte offers it because it is the right starting point for any founder trying to work out what is broken in their setup, and because the founders who book a call get something useful from it regardless of what they decide next.

How is this different from a discovery call?

A discovery call is typically a sales call where a service provider gathers information to present a proposal. The First Move Call is a diagnostic. Charlotte is not gathering information to sell you something, she is going into your specific situation and giving you a diagnosis. You leave with something useful whether or not you go on to work with Charlotte.

Do I need to prepare anything before the call?

No formal preparation is required. If you want to get more from the 30 minutes, it helps to have a rough sense of where the friction is, what keeps coming back to you, which team members or areas feel most stuck, what you have already tried. But Charlotte will ask the questions she needs to get to what matters, so you do not need to arrive with a prepared brief.

What if i have already done The Setup Check or the Playbook?

Bring what you found. If you have worked through The Setup Check or The Team Setup Playbook and you know which gap is the biggest problem, Charlotte can go deeper into that specific area in the call. You will leave with a much more targeted first move as a result.

What if I am already considering The Owner's Era Mentorship?

Book the call. The First Move Call is the starting point for The Owner's Era. Charlotte uses it to confirm the mentorship is the right fit for where you are and to give you a clear picture of what the 12 weeks would look like for your specific business. It is not a pitch. It is a proper diagnostic conversation that happens to also confirm whether the mentorship makes sense.

What if I am not sure whether I need help with my team or something else entirely?

That is exactly what the call is for. Charlotte is not asking you to arrive with a diagnosis, that is her job. Come with the symptoms. She will find the cause.

How do I reschedule if I need to?

The confirmation email contains a link to reschedule or cancel. Please give at least 24 hours notice if you need to move the call so Charlotte can offer the slot to someone else.

What happens after the call|?

It depends on what Charlotte finds. If she recommends The Setup Check or The Team Setup Playbook as a starting point, she will point you there directly. If The Deep Dive is the right next step, she will explain what that involves and how to book. If you are ready for The Owner's Era mentorship, she will walk you through what the 12 weeks would look like for your specific business. And if none of the above is right for where you are right now, she will tell you that too. You will always leave the call knowing your first move, that is the whole point. There is no obligation to do anything with it.
